Actions Overview

AI actions are functions your agent can run during a chat. They help it do more than answer questions. It can complete tasks, collect info, give insights, or connect with other systems.

Think of actions as superpowers for your chatbot. Without them, your bot can only chat: answer questions, have conversations, that kind of thing. But with actions? Your bot becomes way more useful.

What are actions?

Actions let your chatbot actually do things during conversations. Instead of just talking, your bot can:

  • Collect information from visitors (like their name and email)
  • Show buttons that link to important pages
  • Book meetings directly through your calendar

It's like giving your chatbot hands: it can interact with the real world, not just chat about it.

How do they work?

When someone chats with your bot, the bot decides when to use an action based on what the person says. For example:

  • Someone asks "How do I book a call?" → Your bot can automatically show them your calendar appointment booking form
  • A visitor starts chatting → Your bot can immediately ask for their contact info
  • Someone asks about pricing → Your bot can show a button linking to your pricing page

You set up the actions once, tell your bot when to use them (through instructions), and then your bot handles the rest automatically.

Getting started

Ready to add some actions? Head to your chatbot's Actions page and click "New Action". Pick the one you want, fill in the details, and you're done. Your bot will start using it right away.
